Level 1- Complete!

While the basic features and functions of the game aren't yet up and running, such as the move counter and timer, the fundamentals of the level 1 design have all been implemented and it is playable.  There is no prompt that pops up when you win yet, but the internal mechanics of the level itself are functional.

Progress Halt

This is just an update that progress was halted temporarily on the flash game because of the busy time of the year.  Now that the workload has began to lighten up, we should be posting regular updates again shortly.  The current workers of Shower Thoughts Development have made an unofficial goal to have a flash sample on this site by the end of the year.  That is all for now, don't forget to refer us to your friends who are interested in beta-testing and also enjoy your holiday season.

Level 1 Progress

As of a few minutes ago level 1 has been reconstructed with minor alterations.  We decided to change the relative placement of things in the non-playable space but otherwise the level is the same.  Currently, a handful of commands are being added to create the collision physics but otherwise the level is done.  That is, however, a big step.  It is actually a major obstacle we faced during the first rendition of the game so hopefully this goes more smoothly *knock on wood*. More to come shortly!

And We Have Movement

I am proud to announce that we have overcome our first major obstacle and have corrected two portions of the code so that the ball now moves with the correct and original intended physics. More updates to follow!

Functionality and Troubleshooting Technique

First order of business: the ball has officially moved up and left in the flash version of Magnemaze.  Although this seems minor, the flash version has literally taken its first step.

Secondly: Some quick advice for all programmers of any skill level; when troubleshooting code, no matter how complex, remember that an outside perspective can always help and that commenting out suspected lines of error is your best friend.

Don't Forget to Vote

Also, don't forget to vote on the sidebar poll for the ability to play an early-release of Magnemaze!  The poll ends at the same time as 2013, so don't miss out!

Currently Working on Flash Version of Magnemaze

As of tonight the flash version of Magnemaze has been started.  Progress is occurring in a stop-and-go fashion however it is existent.

Check out the new sidebar poll!

Shower Thoughts has decided to make a pre-release ad-supported flash version of Magnemaze before releasing it as a downloadable game on various platforms.  Since this project could take a while, we are curious if it would be worth releasing a 10-level downloadable beta version in the form of a single runtime executable.  The release would be free but would require a request for permission to access the file.  Leave your feedback in the poll!

Welcome to Shower Thoughts!

Hello all, it is with great pleasure to announce that a site has been set up for the express purpose of keeping you, our future customers and followers, informed on our game progress.  This blog will feature a page for each game we are currently developing and a main feed for posting updates on what's going on.  Examples of posts include things like "cannot get the game to work with multiple save states at the moment," or "just added level 92!". Eventually, you will be able to test games and give us feedback on this same website. Sometimes this feedback will be in the form of a poll, such as "How important is it to have multiple save states in this game: Very important, fairly important, not that important, not important at all".  Feel free to contact us with feedback at showerthoughtsdev@gmail.com
